The standard
HooBoy is not a list of links. It is a verdict. The question is not whether a site exists, or whether it ranks well, or whether people talk about it. The question is simpler: if a person lands here looking for something useful, will sending them there improve their day?
We reject AI-generated content farms, roundup sludge, ad wrappers pretending to be articles, hard paywalls that hide the substance, sites that break reader mode, sites that disable basic reading behavior, anything that requires an account before the main content appears, SEO doorway pages, and directories built from recycling other directories.
We accept commercial sites when the free thing is genuinely excellent. We accept institutions when the material is real, searchable, and worth returning to. We accept personal work when there is substance on the page, not vibes around it. Quality beats posture. Utility beats ideology.
A polished bad site does not get in. A plain good one does. A big brand is not disqualified. An indie project is not entitled. If a site used to be great and has gone soft, cluttered, hostile, or extractive, we mark that decline instead of pretending the web is static.
This page matters because the modern web is full of evasive curation. HooBoy is not evasive. If a site is worth your time, it belongs. If it wastes your time, it does not.
